So I’ve had this obsession with bikes for quite sometime. Alright story time. I remember reading an issue of vogue in the library a few years ago and wondering “Whats next?” Whats the next accessory, article of clothing, purse, book? everyone will be purchasing? I continued reading the rest of the magazine in hopes of finding the answer. (Vogue Magazine is a portal into the future. Its the truth) I paused at the very last page and found the answer. I was drooling. On the very last page of a 2009 issue of vogue was the Fendi Abici Amante Donna bike. Decked out in Fendi’s Selleria leather accessories that included a key and bike chain cover, leather GPS navigation holder and a detachable Fendi cargo chest. IT WAS WICKED. There was also a removable fur saddlebag, but I thought that was a little much.... Where was I? Oh yeah in the library reading vogue. Anyways, as I glared into the future of street fashion I refused to finish the issue and place it back on the shelf. That issue was library property. But I couldn’t find myself to part with that page. Soooo, i just ended up ripping that page out of the issue and then leaving before anyone heard (ripping pages out of magazine can be pretty loud) me totally commit theft in the library. I still have that page hung up in my room.
For the past couple of years bikes have been a huge deal in fashion. Just about every fashion house has deigned a bike. Chanel, Hermes, Fendi, Gucci, Kate Spade, Tory Burch, Liberty + Target and soon to be Missoni + Target. Oh and those fashion savvy hipsters have caught on too! Urban Outfitters just launched their Republic Urban Outfitters Bike Shop where you can design and customize your own bike. Cars were so last season.
