an ode to the Wallflower

I think Rochas has become one of my favorites. Marco Zanini has a specific woman he creates for. And she’s that modest, reserved, shy young lady who is distant from the social butterflies in Lanvin dresses or Alexander Wang’s distressed denim. A lady in Rochas would spend her weekends in the shadows of her home. Escaping from others because she is socially paranoid. She’d occasionally venture the garden as her cat trails closely behind. And while on her adventure with her feline friend she’d stumble upon a butterfly, dead on the floor. This lady in Rochas would then pick it up and place it gently in her pocket then scurry on home to give it a proper goodbye. And when she’s done she goes back to her obscure ways. Sitting in her home drowning herself in sarrows. Like a wallflower.

But a lady in Rochas is anything but a wallflower. Because it takes self-assurance to wear printed palazzo pants made of silk with a matching short-waisted, long sleeved top- with flats no less. OR even a loose fitting, long sleeved sweaters that zips in back and full leg pants that puddle at the floor.

Thats the beauty of it all. Rochas is that unconventional beauty. A type of beauty thats not so obvious.
