I’m not really sure what it is but I have this huge obsession with models and that type of unconventional beauty. I once walked up to this girl at school who I thought was unconventionally gorgeous and told her she should get into modeling. It probably seems super creepy that I did that and she most likely thinks I’m a stalker but I was super confident with her looks, as if I were out scouting for the next model to cover vogue Italia, that I didn’t care. But of course when I brought my friends over to show them my latest discovery they weren’t as thrilled as I was. Which totally makes sense because I don’t think everyone can see that kind of beauty. Therefore, she would totally make a great model.
Anyways, thank you lord for the whole “Models off Duty” revolution. It really gives the opportunity for models to be seen as more then just mannequins of huge fashion houses. It gives models the chance to distinguish their own personality in the industry. A.K.A the purpose of fashion. Duh! Its funny, because the M.O.D look is one distinguished style with many different personalities and looks within itself. Making it a bit schizophrenic if ya ask me. But you can definitely categorize someones outfit as M.O.D. Therefore, I don’t think you have to be a model to pull off the 'model off duty’ look.
Basically the Essentials of the M.O.D look:
- Sloppy bun
- loose fitting clothing yet still remain extremely high fashion
- black heels
- perfect make up
- and the confidence you would have if you had just walked for Chanel or Balenciaga
Here are a few of my favorite models off duty
Abbey Lee Kershaw
Jessica Stam
Hyoni Kang
Sasha Pivovarova
Frida Gustavsson
